Guard Cloud digitises solar plant operations for BlueTec
26. august, 2026Guard Automation and BlueTec have partnered to digitalize solar power monitoring, transitioning from calendar-based maintenance to proactive, cloud-driven service.
Guard Automation has partnered with BlueTec to digitalize, monitor, and automate the service and maintenance of solar power systems using the cloud platform, Guard Cloud.
BlueTec is one of Norway's top five installers of solar, battery, and EV charging installations. Established in 2016, the company has 40 employees and is experiencing rapid growth in the commercial building sector. By connecting BlueTec's extensive installations to Guard Cloud, the two companies are transforming how solar energy infrastructure is managed.
Unified Dashboards and Simpler Reporting
Guard Cloud connects data from all types of solar facilities regardless of the hardware supplier. Previously, service technicians had to navigate dozens of different manufacturer platforms to check system health. Now, all key performance data is centralized in a single, unified dashboard.
This centralized data foundation makes it easy to compare current solar production against historical data or neighboring facilities. It also simplifies precise cost allocation for solar investments in commercial buildings with multiple tenants, making it easy to distribute energy costs fairly.
Furthermore, because Guard is a Norwegian company with servers physically located in Norway, data security is significantly strengthened, meeting strict compliance requirements for public and private clients alike.
A Shift to Need-Based Maintenance
With real-time cloud data, BlueTec is moving away from traditional, calendar-scheduled maintenance intervals toward condition-based service. The platform automatically alerts service technicians the moment a fault is detected, reducing downtime.
The system can also integrate local weather data to plan operations proactively - such as predicting whether heavy snow needs to be cleared from solar panels in the coming week to maintain optimal production levels.
First Project: Sandefjord Municipality
Sandefjord municipality is the first to implement this joint solution. Operating data from all municipal solar plants - including the Town Hall (which features nearly 800 solar panels) and several local schools - will be consolidated in Guard Cloud.
This allows municipal energy advisors to easily track performance, detect anomalies instantly, and streamline their environmental reporting. Additionally, schools can display real-time energy production data to students on screens, making renewable energy education interactive and tangible.
